Review of Matt’s game:

My first impression of Matt’s game was that it was very well presented the graphics on the sprites were reminiscent of retro, abstract games such as Pac-Man, the gameplay is solid, it uses the arrow keys for direction which makes the game very easy to start playing, the enemies move in a very predictable way which allows the player to calculate their movements before they are in danger it creates a need for pre-thought and fast reflexes because the enemies move at the same pace as the player so avoiding obstacles when they appear is not an option, the enemies moving distinctly also gives the player a sense that every time they lose it is their fault and not the game doing anything wrong, another feature of the game is the moving walls, it adds another layer of difficulty and it gives the player an incentive to complete the game as soon as possible otherwise more wall blocks will start moving. I would suggest adding in a reset button because I got into some situations where it was impossible for me to progress and I’d have to wait for an enemy to kill me in order to restart. There is a few bugs in the game most of them include becoming stuck in walls and sometimes when the moving walls touch your character you become stuck inside so there is no way of moving and enemies cannot touch you in order for you to restart. Overall the game is successful in achieving what it sets out to do and with more development time to add some missing features like sound, a score display and some bug fixes it could become a very fun game.

shape man

These are the main antagonists in my game they move around and try kill you I created then by making a circle then I thought the colour red because red is a bad guy colour (yes very cliché) then I put there features in the eyes and big and that suggests that they are quite sweet but they have a fine mouth which again is what bad guys are meant to have I didn’t put any arms or legs on him because I think he looks better without them because he’s a circle.
The is my main protagonist he is meant the look quite cute so the gamer will enjoy playing as him I made him into a square because it works well with the arms and legs instead on putting his arms to the side I thought it would be good with his arms in the arm because then he look more innocent I made his eyes the look cute if you notice the white in his eyes it’s meant to be the light shining into his eyes to make him look sweeter than the antagonists.
These are the walls that move around in my game to make the task in hand harder than it needs to be I came across it by accident but I liked it so I tweaked it to work that much better and now I have moving walls that block your path when you try get to the shapes also I noticed in my game the main will get stuck on the wall sometimes which get annoying but I couldn’t find a way to get around it but still the walls works well for the game I’ve made also I made my moving wall grey because it’s quite a neutral colour.
This is my border wall this just keeps all my bad guy and my main character in the game so they don’t float of out the game and I made them blue so it stands out from everything else so you know for sure you’re play within the boundaries the wall does not move but if anything hit against it the will bounce straight off.
This sprite is one of the shapes within the game that you can go into and changed into that shape and you are safe from all the circle enemies but after a while the enemies change into a different shape so you can’t just kill them all with the first power up you get I made the sprite pink so it will stand out from all off the enemies I have because they're the same shape.
This is my third power up sprite this is red like the enemies the reason for this is because they are complete opposites so I thought it would be cool and it works because you tell them apart very easily the cross was going to be fun to use because I was going to make it spin but I wasn’t able to do so.

This sprite is my second power up you can get but the enemies might not change in that shape because the is not order of what my enemies will turn into the keeps you thinking and on the edge I made this sprite green because it’s the starting shape of my main character so I thought it would be quite fitting to have then the same colour.
This if my fourth and final power up sprite the is the easiest power up to get because of where it is in my game and the yellow colour is for when you play the game you will see I lot of bright colours so I feel the yellow will draw you to it which then makes the others harder to get to which is the little twist in my game.

As you can see in the photo below the placing of all my power ups where you start off and just the basic lay out of my game. I was going to put a score in and lives but I ran out of time unfortunately also in my game I have not made everything work for example when you change into a different shape you can’t move and there is no restart button these are things I would make work if I had the time to do so.
This is my game when you are in mid game if you can see what I mean about my moving wall it’s very hard to get around them when they're all in constant motion.
